KF-2012 is a medium chain length, single-end methacrylic-based modified silicone resin developed by Shin-Etsu Chemical. It is designed to be co-blended with solvent-based acrylic resins to produce high-performance hybrid coating systems. The methacrylate functional group enables excellent miscibility with acrylic polymer matrices, while the silicone backbone endows coatings with superior long-term UV resistance, thermal stability and anti-corrosion properties. Listed in TSCA, KF-2012 is widely adopted for heavy-duty exterior protective coatings, chemical plant anti-rust finishes, automotive topcoats, railway & train paint, and long-life architectural exterior coatings. It effectively reduces coating yellowing, improves water & chemical resistance, and extends the service life of outdoor paint films under harsh weather conditions.
