What is silicone product dissolution?
Cross-linked cured silicone (elastomer silicone) cannot be fully dissolved by common solvents. Only uncured liquid silicone can be diluted or dissolved with specific organic solvents. Many customers confuse silicone rubber with liquid silicone oil, which leads to wrong operation.
Main application scenarios
Silicone waste treatment, rework of defective silicone molded parts, cleaning uncured silicone residue on production equipment, lab sample processing.
Core knowledge
Fully cured solid silicone rubber is cross-linked polymer, it will only swell in solvent instead of being dissolved completely.
Uncured liquid silicone can be dissolved with aromatic solvents or silicone diluents.
High temperature burning is another way to decompose silicone solid, but it is not suitable for workshop routine cleaning.
Do not use ordinary water, alcohol to dissolve silicone products, they have no effect.
Safety reminder: organic solvents are flammable, must operate under ventilation environment.
