There are two key stages where leveling agents play core roles: coating mixing stage and film forming stage.
At the coating mixing stage, uneven surface tension tends to trigger surface defects such as orange peel and shrinkage cavities. The leveling agent reduces surface tension quickly and uniformly in the liquid paint system to avoid these defects and improve coating fluidity. Good compatibility ensures stable storage of finished paint.
At the film forming stage, the leveling agent migrates gently to the coating surface. It forms a uniform thin silicone layer to improve surface slip and scratch resistance. It helps the wet paint spread evenly during spraying or roller coating to get smooth, beautiful finished coating surface.
