Molykote® L-8030 is a liquid specialty lubricant designed for use on plastic and elastomer sliding parts, especially in consumer electronics, office devices, and precision assemblies. It consists of perfluoro oil and polytetrafluoroethylene that are uniformly dispersed in a fluoro solvent. Once applied, it forms a semi-translucent dry film that delivers consistent lubrication without the sticky feel typical of greases.

key features
Plastic Compatibility - Molykote® L-8030 demonstrates excellent compatibility with most engineering plastics and elastomers, including ABS, POM, and silicone rubber. In immersion testing for 168 hours at 80°C, there was no visible swelling or surface damage, confirming its chemical inertness. This ensures safe long-term use on mixed-material assemblies without risk of softening or deformation.
Non-Sticky Film - After application, the lubricant forms a dry, semi-transparent film with a thickness of approximately 2–4 µm. Surface friction tests recorded a coefficient of friction below 0.12, significantly lower than conventional silicone greases. The coating leaves no tacky residue, preventing dust accumulation and maintaining a clean operational surface ideal for precision mechanisms.
Wide Coverage - The liquid form enables even coating across complex geometries, ensuring 98% uniform surface coverage based on spreading analysis using a 10 µL droplet test. The stable dispersion of PTFE and PFPE allows consistent film formation on both hydrophilic and hydrophobic surfaces, guaranteeing efficient lubrication on multi-material contact zones.
Office Equipment - Molykote® L-8030 is widely used in printer components, copiers, and scanning mechanisms where smooth sliding and anti-stick performance are critical. Testing on paper feed rollers demonstrated a 35% reduction in drive motor torque and enhanced stability after 100,000 operational cycles.
Consumer Electronics - The lubricant provides excellent motion control for buttons, sliders, and hinge mechanisms in portable devices. Tribological testing showed a 40% decrease in operational friction and zero plastic whitening, ensuring consistent tactile feedback and extended component lifespan.
Medical Devices - It is suitable for polymer-based joints and sealing components in diagnostic and wearable medical equipment. Long-term biocompatibility assessments under ISO 10993 confirmed material safety, while endurance testing at 150°C showed no film cracking or loss of lubricity.
Precision Instruments - Molykote® L-8030 ensures reliable performance in optical and electronic measuring devices requiring micro-level movement. Friction stability testing revealed a less than 5% variation in torque over 500,000 cycles, ensuring high positional accuracy and repeatable mechanical motion in miniature assemblies.
