Shin-Etsu KF-410 - Silicone Mold Release Agent for Rubber, Resin, Die Casting, and Surface Processing

KF-410 Silicone Mold Release Agent can be used as a decorative release agent for products that have been printed, painted, or electroplated after demolding, as well as for foil curling and hot-stamping.
PRODUCTS DESCRIPTION

Shin-Etsu KF-410 is a high-performance silicone mold release agent formulated with methylstyryl-modified silicone fluid, designed for rubber, resin, die casting, and surface processing applications. It is a light yellow transparent liquid with a viscosity of 900 mm²/s at 25°C and a specific gravity of 1.02, allowing it to spread evenly across fine and irregular mold surfaces. It provides good wetting of fine & irregular surfaces due to low surface tension & easy spreading.

key features

  • Excellent Heat Resistance - KF-410 Silicone Mold Release Agent withstands continuous exposure to high molding temperatures without decomposition or performance loss. Laboratory evaluations confirm that after 1,000 hours at 250°C, the product retains over 95% of its original viscosity and leaves no carbon residue on mold surfaces.

  • Good Performance and Releasability - The product demonstrates superior demolding performance on both metallic and non-metallic molds. In comparative tests, it achieved an average mold release force reduction of 45% compared with conventional silicone oils, allowing cleaner and faster release of molded products.

  • Surface Slipperiness and Stability - KF-410 provides a smooth, non-sticky surface finish with stable friction coefficients across varying temperatures. Tests show a static friction coefficient of 0.35 and dynamic friction coefficient of 0.25, maintaining consistency from -30°C to +250°C. Its chemical structure also prevents polymer buildup or tackiness, ensuring that molded parts remain clean and visually flawless.

  • Excellent Compatibility - The product is compatible with most molding materials, including natural and synthetic rubber, thermoplastic resins, and metal molds. It blends effectively with other silicone-based agents without phase separation. Compatibility testing confirms that KF-410 maintains uniform distribution in formulations containing up to 20% additives, offering flexibility for custom release systems or surface modification blends.

  • Good Lubricity - KF-410’s methylstyryl-modified structure enhances its lubricating performance, ensuring smooth mold surface protection and reduced mechanical wear. Friction and wear tests under a 20 N load for 10,000 cycles demonstrated a wear rate reduction of 60% compared to conventional dimethyl silicone fluids.

application
  • Rubber Industry - KF-410 Silicone Mold Release Agent is used for releasing rubber components such as seals, gaskets, and O-rings. It prevents sticking during demolding and ensures a uniform matte finish. Continuous molding trials at 180°C confirmed no residue or surface defects, increasing productivity and maintaining the dimensional precision of molded rubber goods.

  • Automotive - The agent is suitable for plastic and metal components in automotive manufacturing, such as dashboards, trim parts, and die-cast housings. Its excellent heat stability up to 250°C ensures consistent release even under continuous operation, enhancing part aesthetics and reducing mold fouling in large-scale production.

  • Cosmetic and Personal Care - KF-410 is applied in the molding of cosmetic containers, applicator heads, and packaging components requiring flawless surface finishes. The low surface tension and transparency ensure high gloss and smooth texture, while its chemical inertness prevents contamination during subsequent filling or decoration processes.

  • Chemical Processing Industry - In chemical manufacturing, KF-410 acts as a non-reactive process aid for polymer extrusion and film casting. It provides a uniform release surface that minimizes product adhesion and surface marks. Compatibility tests indicate no adverse reactions with common industrial catalysts, ensuring safe use in continuous chemical operations.

  • Die Casting - KF-410 is employed in aluminum and zinc die-casting operations to reduce mold wear and improve casting surface quality. Under repeated cycles at 200°C, it maintains stable lubricity and prevents oxidation of metal molds. The improved release efficiency reduces casting defects such as burrs or sticking, supporting high-precision metal production.
