ShinEtsu KP-361 is a high molecular weight silicone resin. Acts as an anti-blocking agent. Designed for water-based plywood and emulsion paints. Exhibits excellent slip properties, good slickness and solubility. Prevents the paint from being pulled off. KP-361 is added in small amount. Its formulation gives a clean working experience with stable flow behavior, making it suitable for precise or repeated coating operations without unexpected adhesion or sticking during layering.

key features
Low Surface Tension - KP-361 demonstrates a surface tension reduction capability consistent with silicone additives showing values below 22 mN per meter. The reduced interfacial energy allows coatings to spread uniformly on substrates. This stability helps improve operator control over coating coverage.
Smoothness Improvement - In coating tests conducted at a viscosity level near 400 square millimeters per second at 25 degrees Celsius, KP-361 improves tactile smoothness and reduces friction on dried films. The enhanced surface feel helps improve finish quality without negatively affecting clarity or flow.
Anti Blocking Power - The material helps prevent unwanted sticking between coated surfaces using adhesion reduction performance validated through peel force testing. Results indicate lower detachment forces compared with untreated samples. This ensures stacked, rolled, or transported coated materials remain separable, reducing coating damage during processing or storage.
Wide Resin Fit - KP-361 is compatible with both solvent based and water based resin systems as confirmed through solubility and dispersion testing. Its refractive index near 1.403 maintains visual consistency in clear coatings while blending effectively with acrylic, polyester, alkyd, and emulsion paints. This compatibility helps simplify formulation adjustments for varied production environments.
Processing Stability - Thermal and mechanical resistance evaluations indicate stable additive performance under shear, drying heat, and typical shop floor handling conditions. Specific gravity around 0.98 supports predictable mixing behavior in standard equipment. This stability helps maintain uniform surface modification even in continuous or high throughput coating operations.
Paints and Coatings - KP-361 is used in decorative or industrial coating systems requiring lower surface tack and enhanced flow behavior. It supports even film formation at typical coating viscosities and helps maintain separability during stacked drying processes.
Industrial Finishes - Suitable for factory applied finishes on components where improved slip and reduced blocking are required. Data from surface friction testing confirms stable performance on rigid substrates used in mechanical fabrication settings.
High Solids Systems - Applicable to high solids or low VOC coatings where minimal additive volume must deliver measurable slip improvement. Its compatibility with high solids formulations supports consistent behavior at elevated resin content levels.
Surface Modifiers - Utilized as a surface modification agent in systems demanding improved leveling and low surface energy. Film formation trials show controlled wetting behavior across a range of process temperatures.
Packaging Coatings - Effective in coatings used for packaging materials where anti blocking behavior is essential. Peel force reduction performance ensures smooth separation of coated sheets or rolls during converting and packing processes.
