Molykote® HSC Plus Paste is a solid lubricant paste designed for metal-to-metal contact under severe mechanical and thermal stress. It provides a consistent lubricating film even when traditional oils or greases would break down, so users experience smooth assembly and disassembly of bolted joints, stable friction values during tightening, and reliable protection against seizure and fretting over long service intervals.

key features
Wide Temperature Range – Molykote HSC Plus maintains lubricating performance from approximately -30°C up to 1,100°C, based on its tested service temperature range. The combination of silicone grease and solid lubricants allows the paste to remain effective during cold starts and extremely hot operating conditions such as exhaust manifolds or turbine housings.
Oxidation Stability – Stable oxidation behavior slows the formation of hard, brittle residues that can interfere with disassembly or damage threads. As a result, maintenance intervals can be extended and the risk of galling during bolt removal is reduced.
Water Resistance – Molykote HSC Plus retains its lubricating properties in humid, wet, or splash-prone environments thanks to the hydrophobic nature of the silicone base and corrosion-protective solids. Testing in water exposure and salt-spray conditions shows that the paste adheres well to metal surfaces and limits rust formation on flanges, studs, and nuts.
Material Compatibility – The paste is formulated without intentionally added lead or nickel and is compatible with many ferrous and non-ferrous metals used in high-temperature bolting. Its density of about 1.4 g/ml and controlled penetration of 250–280 mm/10 ensure a stable consistency that can be applied in a thin, uniform layer on threads and contact surfaces.
Low Volatility – Molykote HSC Plus shows low evaporation loss at elevated temperatures, which is critical for maintaining a continuous lubricating film during long-term operation. This reduces the need for frequent relubrication and supports long-term protection against seizure in inaccessible or safety-critical joints.
Power Generation – Molykote HSC Plus is used on turbine casing bolts, boiler manway studs, and other high-temperature fasteners where service temperatures can approach several hundred degrees Celsius. The wide temperature capability and anti-seize behavior help maintain correct clamping forces and enable easier disassembly during major outages, reducing time required for overhaul work.
Chemical and Petrochemical – Applied to flanges, heat-exchanger bolts, and reactor closures exposed to corrosive atmospheres and thermal cycling. The oxidation resistance and water resistance protect threads from rust and chemical attack, which is important for maintaining leak-tight joints and avoiding damage to expensive alloy fasteners during routine opening and closing.
Automotive – Used on exhaust system components, turbocharger mounting hardware, and brake system fasteners that experience high temperature and vibration. Molykote HSC Plus helps prevent galling and thread damage during assembly and service, keeps torque values repeatable in production, and supports long-term durability in demanding under-hood environments.
Industrial Machinery – Suitable for heavy-duty presses, furnaces, and mechanical equipment where bolts, keys, or splines are exposed to high loads and intermittent high heat. The lubricant paste simplifies future disassembly by preventing fretting and micro-welding between contact surfaces, which can otherwise lead to costly downtime or component replacement during maintenance.
Marine – Applied to fasteners on engines, exhaust systems, and on-deck structures exposed to saltwater spray and high humidity. The strong corrosion protection and water resistance help keep threads free from rust and seizure, enabling reliable adjustment and removal even after long exposure to marine environments.
Electrical Equipment – Used on busbar joints, grounding connections, and bolted terminals that experience temperature rise from current flow. The paste provides stable contact resistance by maintaining a consistent lubricating and protective layer, which limits oxidation at the interface. This supports secure electrical connections and facilitates safer, easier disassembly during inspection or system upgrades.
