MOLYKOTE® D-7620 is a solvent-based, grayish-black dry film lubricant that incorporates molybdenum disulfide and graphite as solid lubricants in an organic binder system. It is formulated for application via brushing, roller coating, or coil coating and requires heat curing (optimum schedule is 30 minutes at (220 °C) object temperature) to form a durable film. The cured film provides high load-carrying capacity (Falex load-carrying capacity 14,500 N), excellent wear resistance, and avoids fretting corrosion across a service temperature range of (-70 °C) to (+300 °C).

key features
High Temperature Stability - Molykote D-7620 performs within a service temperature range from -70 °C to 300 °C. The cured dry film maintains adhesion and lubricity under sustained thermal exposure, preventing softening or lubricant migration in high-temperature mechanical assemblies.
High Load Capacity - The Dry Film Lubricant supports high compressive and sliding loads through its solid lubricant system. Falex load-carrying data indicates values up to approximately 14,500 N, supporting boundary lubrication where liquid lubricants are displaced under pressure.
Abrasion Resistance - Once cured, the film forms a durable wear-resistant layer on metal substrates. The bonded coating resists surface abrasion during oscillating or intermittent motion, maintaining consistent friction performance under repeated mechanical stress.
Chemical Resistance - The cured coating resists degradation from oils, greases, fuels, and common industrial solvents. This chemical stability maintains lubrication performance in environments where exposure to contaminants would rapidly break down conventional lubricants.
Fretting Corrosion Control - Molykote D-7620 reduces fretting corrosion in vibrating or micro-movement interfaces. The bonded film prevents metal-to-metal contact at oscillating joints, extending component life in assemblies subjected to vibration and cyclic loading.
Cylinder Head Gaskets - Molykote D-7620 is applied as a thin coating on cylinder head gasket surfaces prior to assembly. After heat curing, the dry film supports sealing performance at high combustion temperatures and reduces micro-seizing during installation and service.
Exhaust Manifold Gaskets - The coating is applied to exhaust manifold gasket surfaces exposed to continuous heat and vibration. The cured film supports consistent sealing contact and assists controlled assembly torque in high-temperature exhaust systems.
Springs and Clips - Molykote D-7620 is used on springs and retaining clips operating under vibration and load. The dry film is applied before assembly to provide permanent lubrication where grease retention is impractical.
Valves and Sealing Components - The coating is applied to valve parts, packings, and sealing interfaces where oils cannot be used. After curing, the dry film supports smooth actuation and surface protection under heat and pressure.
Highly Stressed Sliding Areas - Molykote D-7620 is applied to oscillating or low-speed sliding components subjected to high load. The bonded film provides long-term lubrication where relubrication access is limited and liquid lubricants cannot remain in place.
