key features

  • High Tensile Strength - Dowsil 3145 boasts a cured tensile strength of 1035 psi (approximately 7.13 MPa), significantly higher than the 2–4 MPa typical of common silicone sealants. This ensures that the bond remains secure even under mechanical stress or vibration, resisting breakage or delamination.

  • Stable Specific Gravity - With a cured specific gravity of 1.12 g/cm³, it is a lightweight adhesive. Compared to the 1.5 g/cm³ or higher density of conventional epoxy adhesives, this lower density reduces the impact on the overall weight of the component. Furthermore, this stable specific gravity ensures uniform thickness even over large areas, eliminating sedimentation or deformation due to gravity.

  • High Viscosity - Its uncured viscosity reaches approximately 150,000–200,000 cP (centipoise), resulting in an extremely high consistency. This viscosity ensures the adhesive remains stable on vertical surfaces and does not run. During installation, it maintains complete coverage, forming a continuous seal even on complex lines and in narrow gaps, significantly improving sealing integrity.

  • Wide Temperature Resistance - Dowsil 3145 can withstand temperatures ranging from -45°C to +200°C for extended periods, and can withstand temperatures up to +250°C in short-term shock environments. The material remains flexible and resists brittle cracking at low temperatures, while maintaining structural stability at high temperatures without softening or decomposing.

  • Excellent Dielectric Properties - Its dielectric constant (@1MHz) is 2.9–3.1, its volume resistivity exceeds 1×10¹⁴ Ω·cm, and its dielectric strength is approximately 20–22 kV/mm. This ensures excellent insulation performance even in high-voltage electrical environments, preventing leakage and arcing, reducing electromagnetic interference between electronic components, and thus ensuring stable operation of electrical systems.

  • High Elongation - Dowsil 3145 has an elongation at break of approximately 150%–200%, meaning that its cured elastic layer can undergo significant deformation under tension and compression without breaking. This property enables it to maintain a good seal despite dimensional changes caused by thermal expansion and contraction or external vibration.

application
  • Aerospace - In aerospace equipment, electronic modules must maintain proper function under vacuum, high and low temperatures, and severe vibration. Dowsil 3145's temperature resistance of -45°C to +200°C and 1035 psi tensile strength ensure the long-term stability of flight control systems and navigation modules, reducing the risk of electrical failure due to harsh environments, thereby improving aircraft safety and reliability.

  • Electronics Manufacturing - Sealing and protection are often required during the production of electronic circuit boards. Reliability testing for over 1000 hours at 85°C/85% humidity has proven that Dowsil 3145 maintains excellent insulation properties, preventing moisture and dust from invading circuits. Its high viscosity provides complete coverage across complex circuits, reducing product failure rates and increasing the factory acceptance rate and lifespan of electronic equipment.

  • Automotive - Vehicle engine compartments experience temperatures consistently exceeding 100°C, accompanied by severe vibration and exposure to oil and gas. Dowsil 3145's high tensile strength and elongation effectively protect against mechanical shock and thermal expansion changes within the engine compartment. It also remains stable under prolonged high temperatures, preventing detachment or failure, ensuring the long-term operation of sensors and control modules and improving overall vehicle reliability.

  • Telecommunications Industry - Communication base stations and fiber optic transmission equipment are often located outdoors, where humidity and dust pose major threats. Dowsil 3145, with a volume resistivity of ≥10¹⁴ Ω·cm, effectively reduces the risk of leakage in humid conditions and maintains stable signal transmission. Its stable dielectric strength ensures continuous operation of communication equipment in harsh climates, preventing signal interruptions due to insulation failure.

  • Industrial Automation Industry - Electrical control modules in automated production lines must withstand prolonged vibration and dusty environments. In a 24-hour continuous vibration test (10–500 Hz, 0.35 mm displacement), components sealed and protected by Dowsil 3145 maintained stable operation. This vibration resistance and durability ensure that production equipment remains stable under high loads, reducing production downtime due to electrical failures and improving overall factory productivity and efficiency.
